Reinterpreting the classics. When architect Edwin Bollig of Bollig Design Group commenced a major redevelopment of Saracen Estates Winery in Margaret River, he chose Tim Davies Landscaping as his collaborator. Working closely with Bollig and the owner on a poetic setting for the new cellar door and Duckstein Brewery, TDL’s design melds allusions to the 18th century broad-scale English landscape tradition with a crisp, contemporary Australian aesthetic. The symmetrical design includes a lake, romantic rotunda for weddings, performance platform, access for all children’s playground and a heroic statue by Charles Smith. The design conforms to the Caves Road precinct planning guidelines and environmental issues have been well considered with nutrient stripping ponds for catchment management. Installation, including entry drives and carparks, was project managed by TDL.
