New life for a retirement estate. When St Louis Estate added 38 new apartments to its retirement village, Tim Davies Landscaping worked with architects Jones Coulter Young to create a landscaped setting to bridge the threshold between the new and established housing. While the steep site presented challenges, the solution discreetly integrates amenities such as disabled access ramps with poetic gestures such as cascading water stairs inspired by Persian chadahs. TDL was involved in the project from the first sketch plans and the solution met the client’s aspiration to evoke a non-institutional ambience. Project management was carefully orchestrated for dust mitigation and minimal impact on residents.
